Abstract

|
Snoring is defined as noise due to vibration of the upper airway structures during sleep. For snoring treatment, oral appliances, continuous positive airway pressure, and upper airway surgery are recommended, but oral appliances are first considered. Oral appliances for snoring include a mandibular advancement device (MAD), a tongue-retaining device, and a soft palatal lifter. MAD is effective for snoring treatment as well as mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea due to expansion of the upper airway dimension. This study is a case report on a young male patient suffering from snoring treated by a MAD.
